An Essential Resource, Providing Support to Those Facing Hardships

Founded in 1945 with a primary mission centered on adoption services, Catholic Charities has recognized the growing needs of the communities it serves and broadened its scope to provide comprehensive support through disaster relief, hunger alleviation, job training, emergency financial support, and food distribution.

Promoting Self-Sufficiency Through Its Services

Catholic Charities' efforts to alleviate hunger are particularly impactful. The organization operates food pantries, soup kitchens, and meal distribution programs. Additionally, through emergency financial support, the organization helps families stay afloat during challenging times by assisting with rent, utilities, and other necessities.

The organization's disaster relief programs are a cornerstone of its work. They provide both immediate and long-term support to communities affected by hurricanes, floods, and other natural disasters. Catholic Charities provides shelter, food, which includes weekend hunger backpacks for children to take home each week, adoption and pregnancy services, medical supplies, emotional support during times of crisis, and compassionate senior services.

Furthermore, Catholic Charities emphasizes the importance of training and empowerment, offering job-readiness programs and life skills training to help individuals gain the confidence and skills they need to secure stable employment and improve their financial situation. These programs address immediate needs and work toward achieving long-term self-sufficiency.

As a trusted community resource, Catholic Charities is recognized for its inclusive approach, supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds and circumstances.

Securing Community Support Through Its Thrift Shop

In addition to offering emergency assistance, financial support, and educational programs, the organization operates a thrift shop, the Catholic Charities Thrift Shop (located at 525 SR-16 E, Unit 111, St. Augustine, FL 32084), which advances its mission by providing household essentials and clothing to the community. By shopping at the thrift store, visitors contribute to Catholic Charities' mission and help support individuals facing homelessness, addiction recovery, hunger, or the aftermath of a disaster.

The thrift store is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. For more information, please call (904) 829-6300.
