Maintaining Safety Through Crime and Fraud Prevention

The Office of the State Attorney – 7th Judicial Circuit is responsible for prosecuting criminal cases on behalf of the State of Florida and ensuring that justice is served fairly and impartially. Serving Bunnell, Daytona, DeLand, Palatka, and St. Augustine, the office is dedicated to preventing crime and safeguarding the community by offering elder abuse prevention and reporting services, victim advocacy, and fraud prevention programs.

Through its Elder Abuse Prevention and Reporting Services, the State Attorney’s Office investigates cases of financial exploitation, neglect, and other forms of mistreatment directed at elderly or disabled individuals. Anyone who suspects that an elder or disabled person is being abused is strongly encouraged to report it by calling the Florida Abuse Hotline at (800) 962-2873.

Preserving The Principles of Justice for Communities

The office also supports victims through its Victim Advocacy Services. Victim Advocates provide information about victim rights, assist with crisis intervention, connect individuals with community resources through its referral service, and offer courtroom advocacy during proceedings. They also help victims in filing compensation claims.

Individuals seeking these services can call (904) 209-1620 to be connected with a Victim Advocate, or they may reach out to the St. Johns County Clerk’s Office at (904) 819-3600. Additionally, the Worthless Check Collection and Diversion Division helps victims of fraud recover money lost through bad or fraudulent checks.

Victims may call (904) 209-1620 for assistance, and a victim packet is available online to guide them through the process.
