Supporting Families Through the Loss of a Child

The Diocese of St. Augustine’s Red Bird Ministries provides compassionate, faith-centered support to parents and families who have experienced the death of a child, whether through miscarriage, infant loss, childhood loss, or the death of an adult child. Rooted in Catholic teaching and pastoral care, the ministry offers spiritual guidance, practical resources, and a supportive community.

Among its primary offerings are the Grief Group Study and the Loving Through Loss Couples Workshop.

Grief Support Groups and Couples Healing Workshops

The Grief Group Study is a structured 10-week program for individuals and couples seeking support after the loss of a child. Through a combination of spiritual reflection, educational resources, and guided discussion, participants gain coping skills and connect with others who share similar experiences. The confidential group environment provides encouragement, understanding, and support throughout the healing process.

The Loving Through Loss Couples Workshop is a one-day program created specifically for couples who have experienced the death of a child. Through guided presentations, discussions, and interactive activities, participants explore the different ways grief can affect individuals and relationships. The workshop helps individuals to develop healthy strategies for supporting one another as they move forward together in hope and healing.

Educational Workshops for Parish Communities

In addition to these direct support programs, Red Bird Ministries offers Information Sessions for church members, volunteers, and others who minister to grieving families. The ministry also provides Facilitator and Companion Couple Training, equipping individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to support families experiencing loss and to implement programs within parish communities.
