Building a Strong Foundation for Sustained Sobriety

Founded in the 1970s in Silver Springs, Maryland, Oxford Houses has grown from a single home into a vast network of recovery residences across the United States and internationally. These houses are dedicated to providing individuals recovering from addiction with a safe, stable environment, empowering them to rebuild their lives and establish a solid foundation for long-term sobriety.

Cultivating an Environment of Shared Respect and Responsibility

At the heart of the Oxford House model is its peer-driven structure. Each residence is democratically run, with residents collectively responsible for the home’s operations, finances, and house rules. This unique approach allows individuals to experience the structure and responsibility of daily living while learning valuable life skills in budgeting, conflict resolution, and self-governance. The Oxford House model fosters an atmosphere of mutual respect and accountability, as each resident takes an active role in maintaining a safe and positive environment.

Empowering Families to Support Their Loved Ones with Strength and Confidence

Family support is also an aspect of the Oxford House philosophy. Families are welcome to reconnect with their loved ones, witness their progress, and actively participate in recovery. Additionally, Oxford Houses is an essential resource for medical professionals, therapists, and addiction counselors who can confidently refer clients to these structured, supportive homes.

Encouraging Deep Connections Through Social Engagement

Group support meetings, interactive activities, and shared responsibilities enrich life within an Oxford House. Residents participate in weekly meetings to share their experiences, celebrate each other’s progress, and address challenges. This communal approach to recovery fosters a profound sense of camaraderie and belonging, as residents build connections with others who understand their journey.

Prospective residents are welcome to attend daily in-person interviews at 7:00 p.m. to meet current residents and gain insight into life within the house. This Oxford House can accommodate up to 10 residents, creating a supportive yet intimate setting where each individual is seen, valued, and supported.
