Making Homeownership Accessible and Affordable
The St. Augustine South Improvement Association (SASIA) has roots stretching back to the 1950s. It began with a single parcel of land and grew steadily as it expanded from Jacksonville into St. Augustine South. Officially founded on December 11, 1957, SASIA aimed to make homeownership accessible and affordable for residents by encouraging them to view and purchase properties at fair prices.
Ensuring a Well-Organized Environment
The association's goals remain to improve residents' quality of life through community beautification, sanitation practices, and neighborhood safety initiatives. SASIA provides services such as garbage collection, upkeep of community structures, oversight of housing construction, zoning regulations, architectural design standards, and even mail delivery.
Dedicated to Enhancing the Neighborhood's Physical Surroundings
Beyond infrastructure and maintenance, SASIA develops community spirit through its partnership with St. Johns County Parks and Recreation. Located adjacent to the SASIA Clubhouse—built in 1963 thanks to generous community donations—this collaboration provides residents access to public programs encouraging fitness and social connection. Community members can participate in activities like yoga, dance, and square dancing classes, all of which take place in the clubhouse.
